Francesco Vanni d’Archirafi was most recently the Vice Chairman of Citigroup’s International Clients Group for Europe, Middle East and Africa based in London. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Citi Holdings (2013-2018) and Chief Executive Officer of Citi Transaction Services (2009-2013) based in New York.
Francesco’s 38 year career at Citi has taken him across Europe and the Americas where he has substantial experience leading businesses, committees and boards. His background spans a range of banking disciplines from corporate finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions to cash management, trade finance, custody and securities services, institutional client management and geographical franchise management.
Francesco is the former Chairman of Citibank Europe plc and was Chairman and CEO of Citibank International plc. He serves on the Boards of Verti Spa and Banco Nacional De Mexico SA. He also served on the LCH Group Holding Board (2005-2011) and the Board of Mapfre International (2002-2017). He is also on the International Advisory Board of IESE and Vice Chair of the Advisory Council for The Kogod School of Business at American University. He is the Chairman of Junior Achievement Worldwide and a member of its Board of Governors. He is a Trustee of The Felix Project, The Borne Foundation, the Voluntary Solidarity Fund (VSF) and The Vatican Foundation Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice (CAPP).
Francesco is a Finance graduate of the American University in Washington DC where he received the Stanley I.Posner Award as the graduating senior with the highest overall academic average. He has an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University (1983).
