Riksbanken takes next step towards T2S for Swedish kronor settlement

A step towards European harmonisation 

The decision marks a concrete step towards aligning Sweden’s securities settlement processes with those used across the European Union. By leveraging the T2S platform, Sweden will achieve harmonisation with relevant European standards, in line with other EU markets.

T2S offers a highly secure and resilient platform for securities settlement, with strong cybersecurity and operational redundancy. This creates the conditions for safe, efficient and reliable settlement flows across participating markets.

Next steps 

Contractual negotiations between the Riksbank and the Eurosystem are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
