Riksbankens decision: Beslut: Avtalsförhandling avseende T2S-plattformen
Riksbanken takes next step towards T2S for Swedish kronor settlement
On 23 June, the Riksbank decided to enter contractual negotiations with the Eurosystem (ECB) regarding the use of the TARGET2‑Securities (T2S) platform for settlement in Swedish kronor. This represents a significant milestone in the ongoing harmonisation of the Swedish securities market with European standards.
“The Riksbank’s decision to move forward with T2S is an important milestone for Sweden’s financial market. It supports Euroclear Sweden’s ability to join T2S in 2030, bringing Sweden further in line with the rest of Europe.

A step towards European harmonisation
The decision marks a concrete step towards aligning Sweden’s securities settlement processes with those used across the European Union. By leveraging the T2S platform, Sweden will achieve harmonisation with relevant European standards, in line with other EU markets.

Next steps
Contractual negotiations between the Riksbank and the Eurosystem are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
