Directed allocation as a competitive advantage

Automated collateral allocation provides significant advantages to financial institutions through increased operational efficiency, reduced collateral costs, enhanced regulatory compliance and improved risk management. Euroclear has powerful automated solutions with Euroclear AutoSelect® and the Euroclear Collateral Optimisation Service within the Collateral Highway®, which select and allocate securities optimally to cover exposures across multiple counterparties and venues. However, optimisation means something different to everyone and there are times when fine-tuning of collateral allocation is needed. This is where the Euroclear SelfSelect® service complements other automated services, while keeping you in full control.

Introducing the Euroclear SelfSelect service

This service keeps all the proven automated features of our other triparty collateral management services running and adds to them by allowing you to direct your optimal collateral allocation for a single transaction, a subset, or your entire portfolio of triparty transactions. SelfSelect is integrated with your existing collateral schedules and AutoSelect provides an automatic fallback based on them should the SelfSelect collateral not be available.

Two SelfSelect service modes, simulation and processing

SelfSelect gives the ability to analyse the impact of collateral movements in a simulation mode prior to an AutoSelect run. The SelfSelect file created is processed but collateral movements are not sent to the Settlement System, with specific reporting on the simulation giving:

  • securities and position allocated prior to the processing of the simulation file
  • securities and position proposed in your SelfSelect file
  • collateral swap movements linked to SelfSelect allocation
  • collateral movements generated by AutoSelect as fallback

If you like the results, you can then switch to processing mode and execute the instructions.
