We had a chat with Hanna Vainio, Euroclear Sweden’s new CEO, to learn more about her. Here are her answers to five quick questions.

What are you most looking forward to at the beginning of your new assignment for Euroclear?
Lots of things, but I’m excited to engage with colleagues and business partners and together deliver our multi-year transformation programme.
What is the biggest challenge for European CSDs going forward?
To comply with regulatory requirements and navigating the evolving technology landscape, while maintaining operational resilience. But there are also a multitude of opportunities, especially for us here in the Nordics where have experience of delivering issuer services to our clients.
In what situation do you feel the most energy at work?
Engaging with people face-to-face, collaborating and exchanging ideas together.
What do you do in your spare time that gives you energy?
I really enjoy road cycling. Six years ago, I rode to Paris with the charity team Rynkeby. Although the season is short in the Nordics, I try to cycle as much as I can. In May, I plan to go to Åland for some spring cycling.
What do those two situations have in common, do you think?
Having fun together, exploring new things and enjoying life!
