Geert Desmedt
Chief Executive Officer of the Euroclear ESES Central Securities Depositories
Geert Desmedt is Chief Executive Officer of the Euroclear ESES Central Securities Depositories, covering Euroclear Belgium, Euroclear France and Euroclear Nederland.
Geert has more than 30 years of experience within Euroclear group, with senior leadership roles spanning operations, risk management and client services across Europe and Asia. He has held a number of key positions, including Group Head of Operational Risk, Head of Operations and Client Services Asia at Euroclear Bank in Hong Kong, as well as Chief Executive Officer of Euroclear Bank’s Polish Branch.
Prior to his current role, Geert served as Co‑CEO of MFEX, Euroclear’s global fund distribution platform acquired in 2021. During this period, he supported the integration of MFEX into the Euroclear FundsPlace platform, contributing to the development of Euroclear’s funds offering.
In his current role, he is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the ESES Central Securities Depositories. Geert joined Euroclear in 1990.
He holds a Master's degree in translation and an MBA in Business Administration.
