In a recent chat with Louise Sångberg, Head of IT Controls & Assurance, we learned more about her experience at Euroclear Sweden and what keeps her inspired in her role.
Quickfire questions with Louise Sångberg, our Head of IT Controls & Assurance
What do you do at work?
In my role, I am responsible for overseeing our IT framework, ensuring that our IT organisation remains aligned with both external regulatory requirements and internal policies. My team provides oversight of IT risks, processes and controls, working across the IT organisation in close collaboration with other control functions such as Risk and Compliance and internal/external audit.
In addition, I act as Deputy CTO, supporting my manager and my fellow IT management colleagues across all kinds of IT-related matters and helping to drive priorities forward.
What is the best thing about Euroclear Sweden?
Variation, a typical day involves discussions at all levels—from technical and operational IT topics to writing board reports, and everything in between. It offers a unique perspective across the entire organisation. I am surrounded by knowledgeable and inspiring colleagues, and two days are never quite the same. After 7 years in Euroclear I still learn new things every day (maybe this says more about my learning curve…).
What are you most proud of?
How much we have accomplished in IT with the limited resources we have. Me and my team have made strong progress over the past years in increasing process and control awareness in the organisation, and with the Nordic Transformation now underway, it’s more important than ever to stay structured and operate with a clear and controlled approach. I feel confident for the journey forward.
What are you less proud of?
Euroclear as a whole is very ambitious which results in many initiatives ongoing. I am quite good at prioritizing my activities, but less good at sticking to my priorities. This leads to me being a bit time optimistic (you’ll have to ask my manager about this ha ha).
What can you bring to Euroclear?
With 20 years of working with IT risk, compliance and governance areas throughout my career, I contribute with a balanced and pragmatic view of what needs to be in place, especially going forward with our Nordic journey. With some positive energy and a calm and clear mindset, I help teams navigate risk and control requirements with confidence.
