Franco Passacantando

Mr. Passacantando was appointed as a non-executive Director of Euroclear plc (“PLC”) and Euroclear SA/NV (“ESA”) in February 2015.

He is a member of the Risk Committee of ESA.

Mr. Passacantando has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Salini Impregilo since December 2013 and is currently also a member of the Board of the European Investment Bank, an advisor to the World Bank Treasury and a fellow of the LUISS School of European Political Economy in Rome. 

He has held several senior positions at the Bank of Italy where, as Managing Director, he was in charge of relations with international institutions, market operations, reserve management and payment systems.

From 1976 to 1995 he held several positions in the Research Department, including that of Head of the Monetary Sector. Acting on behalf of the Bank of Italy, he was the Governor Deputy for the G20 and the G7, a member of the Economic and Financial Committee of the European Union and a member of various working groups and Committees at the OECD and the Bank for International Settlements.

From 1995 to 2003, as Executive Director at the World Bank, he held the positions of Chairman of the Budget Committee and of the Audit Committee and Dean of the Board.

He has a degree in Statistics from La Spezia University of Rome and a Master of Arts in Economics from Stanford University.
